The commonly used types of quartz resonators are disc type, rod type, and tuning fork type.
The tuning fork type quartz resonator has a small volume, good impact resistance, and low frequency. Its resonant frequency is 32.768kHz, which is suitable for use in quartz watches. Recently, many quartz clocks have also adopted this low-frequency quartz resonator.
The circular type is a high-frequency quartz resonator with a resonant frequency of 4.194304MHz, which is mostly used in quartz clocks.
Rod shaped quartz resonators cannot meet the needs of miniaturized quartz watches due to their poor impact resistance and large size.
At present, a large number of tuning fork type quartz resonators are produced, and the vibration of quartz tuning forks belongs to the bending vibration mode. The fork arm is fixed at one end and freely bends and vibrates at one end, with a frequency 0.16 times that of the free bending vibration at both ends.
